                                Some Favorite Bible Verses

Here are some of my favorite Bible verses;
I'll quote some of them in full, and others
I'll just reference for you because of length.

Romans 8:18-23 (from the NIV and NASB) -- "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation (anxious longing) for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice but by the will of the one who subjected it in hope (alt. trans.), because the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies."

The significance of the above scripture passage for me: The physical universe is not destined for annihilation but for renewal. Living things will no longer be subject to death and decay, as they are now. The redemption and resurrection of our bodies is promised.

John 1:9
-- "That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world (KJV, Holy Bible).

This Bible verse teaches the universality of the Light of Christ given to every human being.

1 Corinthians Chapter 13 -- the "love" chapter--a beautiful passage!

1 Corinthians Chapter 15 -- the Gospel message summed up; the "death and resurrection" chapter--our present and future hope and guarantee!

John 3:16 -- "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (KJV, Holy Bible). The Good News for humanity!

2 Timothy 1:7 -- "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Psalm 23 -- that great and comforting passage!

Psalm 27:1 -- The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 91 -- for personal protection

1 John 5:10 -- "The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself..." (New American Standard Bible). A promise of the abiding and indwelling Presence of God!

Isaiah Chapter 12
(NIV Study Bible) -- "In that day you will say: 'I will praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.' "With joy you will draw water from the wells (springs--NASB) of salvation. In that day you will say: 'Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.' "

Isaiah Chapter 35 -- A sublime, magnificent, poetic, comforting, and reassuring Bible passage!

Isaiah Chapter 40 -- The grandeur of God, and, in the last verse, a promise: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (KJV, Holy Bible).

Isaiah Chapter 55 -- The thoughts and ways of God, and the joy of those who believe. A beautiful passage!

Isaiah Chapter 61 -- Ministers of God and their ministry; blessings of the faithful; great promises. A beautiful and inspiring Bible passage!

My prayer is that you be richly blessed as you read and ponder these passages from God's holy word.
